Prerogatives of the Foodstuff Committee

To ensure better
coordination with foodstuff manufacturers and distributors to avoid internal competition.
- To focus on the problems related to foodstuff processing and to and propose suitable solutions for them.
- To contact lending organizations to improve borrowing terms and to grant subsidies for setting up foodstuff manufacturing units.
- To prepare feasible studies on foodstuff processing.
- To ensure conformation of standard specifications on imported foodstuff items.
- To study the situation of the local trade in foodstuff and to study its various aspects.
- To furnish data and statistics on local production and to prepare feasible studies based on these figures in order to identify the gap between production and surplus in the seasons.
- To promote setting up of foodstuff industries to utilize the surplus
agricultural products.
- To find a mechanism to ensure that the foodstuff are subject to standard specifications and that frozen materials are not re-frozen once they are thawed.
- To study developments in the foodstuff prices, locally and abroad, and matters related to the local market and imports of foodstuff.
- To study draft laws and rules having relation to foodstuff.
- To study complaints submitted by foodstuff merchants and to solve them.
