OCCI
specialised committees and branch committees regulation
The Board of Directors has issued the following
regulation: With reference to Articles 24 and 28 of the General
Rule of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued by Royal Decree on 15 May 1973 and the amendments thereto, and Articles 43.2 of the Internal Regulations of the Chamber,

Chapter One -
Name of the Regulation and its Enforcement Date
|
|
Article - 1:
This regulations shall be known as the Regulation of the Specialised Committees and Branch committees of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and it shall come into force from the date of its adoption by the Board of Directors.
Article - 2:
Unless otherwise meant by the text, the words and phrases mentioned in this regulation shall have the same meaning as given in the General Rule and Internal Regulation of the Chamber.

Chapter Two -
Setting up of the Specialised Committees and Branch Committees
|
Article - 3:
The Board of Directors shall set up the following
specialised committees.
The Board shall also set up the following Branch Committees: Salalah,
Sur, Nizwa, Sohar, Ibri, Ibra and Khasab.
Article - 4:
The term of each committee shall be equal to the term of the Board of Directors, which is 4 years.
Article - 5:
The Board of Directors shall have the right to set up new committees or to cancel some of them as necessitated by the Chamber's work requirements.

Chapter Three - Formation of the Specialised Committees and the Branch Committees

Article - 6:
The Board of Directors shall appoint a chairman for each committee from among the members of the Board and each committee shall elect a
Vice-president from among its members, who will substitute
for the Chairman in his absence.
Article - 7:
Each
specialised committee shall have not less than 5 members and not more than 25 members inclusive of the
Chairman, as decided by the Board for each case. A committee can have more members if there
is a specific need and the Board approves such a
decision. The membership of the Branch Committees shall be in accordance with what has been mentioned in Article 28 of the General Rule of the Chamber.
Article - 8:
Chairman of each committee shall nominate the members from among the subscribed members of the Chamber, experts and specialists in the field of the activity of the particular committee. While choosing the members of the branch committees, care shall be taken to have representation for each
region and sector. The list of members shall be forwarded to the Board of Directors for approval.

| Chapter Four
- Prerogatives of the Specialised Committees and the Branch Committees

Article - 9: The committees shall study the topics entrusted to it by the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee and they shall raise their recommendations to the Board. The committees shall follow up
matters that relate to the committee's function and necessary studies shall be made on them without the need
of the assignment from the Board of the Executive Committee.
Article - 10:
The committees may
organise seminars and lectures to discuss the matters having relation to their activities in coordination with the director of the
Chamber.
Article - 11: The Chairmen of the committees shall contact the official departments directly in coordination with the President of the Chamber or through the
Executive Committee or the Board, as needed, in order to seek their views on the matters concerned and to obtain necessary information from them.
Article - 12: Each committee may form sub-committees from among their members to study certain topics technically and to prepare recommendations for raising them to the committee.
Article - 13: Each committee may seek the views and opinions of experts and specialists on specific matters without any financial commitments.
