Sultanate to host Arab chambers’ meeting
MUSCAT - The Sultanate will host the 37th session of the Arab commerce, industry and agriculture chambers conference at Al Bustan Palace Hotel from October 14 to 16.

Mohammed bin Al Zubair bin Ali, adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for economic planning affairs, will open the conference in the presence of Amr Moussa, Arab League secretary-general; Dr Mirvat Tallawi, UN undersecretary-general and executive secretary of the Economic and Social Commis-sion for Western Asia (Escwa), and a number of Arab officials.
Alliance in limelight

MUSCAT - Equities bounced back a little with National Bank of Oman making a spirited rally on Muscat Securities Market yesterday. The share opened with a large upward gap at RO1.250 and quickly climbed to a high of RO1.300 before settling down to close at RO1.270, a gain of 80 baisa. The bulk of yesterday’s trading volume was provided by
Alliance Housing Bank where a large block of 400,000 shares was traded at RO0.690.

Among the gainers, Oman Holding International closed at a 52 week high of RO1.540 on the back of a single deal for 500 shares. Local institutional funds picked up pivotal shares at prevailing market prices. In the Parallel Market, once again Al Khaleej Polypropylene was the volume leader on the back of negotiated deals at RO1.650.

In the Third Market, a block of 50,000 shares of Gulf International Chemicals changed hands at RO0.150. In corporate news, the board of directors of Transgulf has proposed a 7 per cent cash dividend. This will be the company’s maiden dividend. The board of United Power Co. SAOG is meeting today to decide on payment of an interim dividend. UPC closed 10 baisa lower to RO1.510 on very thin volume. - BankMuscat
