Capital Area Shopping Complexes
Qurum:
Has a large number of shops, including many air-conditioned shopping complexes. There are several supermarkets (Select n Save and Prisunic), a wide variety of shops, including J C Penney, British Home Stores, Mothercare, Benetton, Family Bookshop, Travel agents, The Bodyshop shoe shops as well as many fast food restaurants.
Al Harthy: This shopping centre is opposite
Qurum and has a variety of shops, plus a good large supermarket - The Sultan
Centre.
Madinat Sultan Qaboos: This is a shopping centre over a wide area with a variety of shops including two very good supermarkets (Matrah Cold Store and Al Fair) which both sell a selection of European food items, liquor shops, Family bookshop, The Bodyshop, pharmacy, Mexican and Chinese restaurants, etc.
Mina Al Fahal: This is a small shopping area near to PDO and has a supermarket with a good fresh butchery section, fresh bread and a good selection of fruit and vegetables in addition to the usual tinned and packaged products. The National Bank of Oman and the Oman International Bank both have branches here and there are several travel agents.
Shatti Al Qurm: This is a shopping complex located on a lovely beach. Al Fair, Khimji Sports, Handicraft shops are some of the major ones and there are several small shops as well. The Inter-Continental Hotel, with restaurants and delicatessen, is located nearby.
Ruwi and Muttrah: Ruwi and Muttrah are the old main commercial areas and have a great range of stores and small shops. Most of the electrical and hardware shops are located here, along with fabric shops, jewellers, ready-made garment shops, picture framers and many tailoring shops. The original "Souq" (market) is in Muttrah with many items on offer and is well worth a visit to see one of the few original "Souqs" left in Oman.
Seeb: City Centre, a new shopping complex locating a big Carrefour superstore and a number of international shops like Monsoon, Triumph and Woolworth.
